Resource Person (External Support) [Advisor] on Dengue, Government of Karnataka, India – Former Scientist `G’ and Head, ICMR-National Institute of Malaria Research, Bangalore, India
Dr Susanta Kumar Ghosh has over 40 years of experience working on vector-borne diseases, including malaria, dengue, chikungunya, Zika, Japanese encephalitis, and lymphatic filariasis. He previously served as Scientist ‘G’ and Head at the ICMR-National Institute of Malaria Research in Bangalore. Currently, he focuses on dengue control initiatives in Karnataka and is recognised as an expert in tropical medicine and public health.
Dr Ghosh is actively involved with several international bodies, such as the WHO-RBM Vector Control Working Group on Anopheles Stephensi in Africa and the Human-Centered Design Initiative. He is also a member of the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (ASTMH) in the USA.
Throughout his career, he has published around 150 articles in national and international journals and contributed to several innovative platforms aimed at controlling Aedes mosquitoes. Dr Ghosh has guided six PhD students and serves as an Adjunct Professor at Mangalore University in Karnataka. Additionally, he has acted as an external PhD reviewer for institutions like the University of Pretoria, South Africa.
Dr Ghosh regularly delivers technical talks at events such as the APMEN platform and participates in various national and international conferences, workshops, and seminars. He also serves as a mentor to PhD candidates and is involved in academic publishing as an editor for journals such as Frontiers and BMC. He sits on the editorial board of Scientific Reports and acts as a reviewer for several high-impact journals.
In recognition of his outstanding contributions to public health, Dr. Ghosh has been honored as a Fellow of the prestigious National Academy of Medical Sciences (India).
